Dooli Ella - Neluwa


Dooli Ella is a very common name used in Sri Lanka for waterfalls and it is derived from the water being sprayed similar to dust in the water falls. This specific waterfall being close to Neluwa is famous as Neluwa Dooli Ella. 



Being situated in the outskirts of Sinharaja Forest which is Sri Lankas largest Tropical Rain forest the waterfall is blessed with an umnachable beauty to any other waterfall in Sri Lanka. Waterfall and it's surrounding area is well maintained and you have to buy tickets to enter. 



Water fall consists of three mini falls . There are stairs that you can use to reach up to the basement of the upper section of the falls and two other stages which facilities different views. Swimming in the water fall is dangerous but you can use the two man made pools maintained by the water diverted from the pool. Please be mindful of leaches though we saw none are abundant in the region. 


How to Reach

You can easily reach the water fall from Colombo by using the Expressway. Use the Welipenna exit and proceed to Neluwa via Pelawatta. Use Lankagama Kosmulla road and proceed up to the waterfall. Road up to the waterfall is well maintained and is in good condition. You can also use kurudugahahethekma exit on the Expressway.
