My Visit to City of Gold - Dubai (Day 01)

I on boarded an Emirates airline with my parents from Bandaranayake International Airport Colombo at 3.15 am on 20th June 2019 and arrived to Dubai airport around 6.30 am. Once we came out of the airport we met my brother who is employed at Abu Dhabi.

First task was to visit our place of accommodation, Flora Inn Hotel Dubai Airport to keep our baggage at the hotel. After handing over our belongings to the friendly hosts we started exploring Dubai.

Day 01

Jumeirah Mosque - Dubai

Jumeirah Mosque is a Fatimid style mosque  which opened to public in 1979. Guided tours are available to visit the mosque which costs around 25 AED per person. Tour includes detailed introduction about Islam and a demonstration about the way to pray inside the mosque. If you plan to visit Dubai I recommend to include Jumeirah Mosque to your list.

Mahamewuna Buddhist Temple

This is a Sri Lankan Temple in Dubai city, probably the only Buddhist temple in Dubai. Being a Sri Lankan I wanted to visit this temple to experience the feel of home. So if you are a Sri Lankan or interested in Buddhism visit here. Its very close to the Jumeirah Mosque and Jumeirah Beach.

Dubai Mall

Dubai mall is considered as one of the largest shopping malls in the world. Its next to the Iconic Burj Khalifa tower and is filled with so many activities and attractions. You can find many branded shops and various eateries in the Mall. Some of the activities in Dubai mall are Dubai Aquarium, Skating, Under water Zoo, Waterfall and Dinosaur Skeleton. You can easily reach here using the Metro and using Burj Khalifa / Dubai Mall Metro station

Burj Khalifa

With a record height of 828.9 m Burj Khalifa is the tallest structure and Building since 2009. You can visit 124th floor ( 452 m ) and 148th floor (555 m) both are observation decks. I was able to visit the 124th & 125th floors. I recommend Burj Khalifa to be a must visit in Dubai but if you are on Budget try the times in non prime hours which are at a discounted price. Also recommend to purchase tickets online.

Dubai Aquarium

Being a famous attraction in Dubai this aquarium is a must visit in Dubai mall, However due to budgetary restrictions we never went inside the aquarium. We watched it from the outside only but the experience was mesmerizing.

Dubai Fountain

After visiting Dubai Fountain we went to visit Dubai Fountain which is a large fountain adjacent to Burj Khalifa in the huge Man Made lake known as Burj Lake. The fountain operates to various Arabic and Western Songs which indeed is a truly wonderful  Experience.

Boat ride in Burj Lake

Finally to round up the day we tool a boat ride in the Burj Lake which was done in a Traditional Abra. We can watch the Dubai Fountain from the boat which can be very fun. Besides since the boat ride takes place in the evening you can experience the beauty of the Burj park from the Boat.

After visiting the Burj Park we decided to head to our Hotel ending a tiring day. To reach the Hotel we used the Metro from Burj Kaliffa / Dubai Mall station to GGICO Metro station after purchasing some food for our dinner. I will post about the Day 2 and Day 03 in separate blog post.
