Since the day SL railways introduced a new Intercity express to Badulla 'Denuwara Menike' I wanted to visit Badulla. However, reservation of seats was difficult due to high demand and my mom was able to reserve tickets only for our return journey. We decided to leave to Badulla on the night mail train. But our train journey was interrupted  due to the bad whether and when we were in the station it was announced that the train will leave only to Bandarawela. We instantly changed our plans and our journey decided to get down at Haputale another famous hill station in Sri Lanka. The Nine Arch Bridge is a Railway bridge in Badulla district in the Main Line of Sri Lankan Railway which links the Sri Lankan town of Badulla with Capital Colombo. Sitated between Ella and Demodara Railway stations this Bridge is also known as Bridge in the Sky. Architectural value coupled with the scenic environment draws thousands of locals and foreigners. Hindus believe in 5 sacred Hindu Temples dedicated to God Shiva in the Sri Lanka. One of these 5 is Thirukitheshwaram Temple situated on the Western Coast of Sri Lanka close to the ancient port city of Manthai / Mathota. Manthai/ Mannar was an imopirtant port in international Commerce in ancient world. Many ancient texts writeen in Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa periods continuously mentions of Mathota as an important port city. Thirukitheswaram was associated with this ancient city. Fort of Jaffna is a colonial building adjacent to the city of Jaffna. Which was used as an fortified place to guard the colonial interests in Jaffna which was a important hub of trade.  Fort was first built by the Portuguese General Pillippe de Oliveira in 1618 CE after subjugating the Jaffna kingdom. Later it felt to Dutch forces of Rijcklof van Goens im 1698 who enlarged the fort and rebuilt it. It went to British in 1795 and remained so untill 1795. The Fort has been a important battle ground in Sri Lankan civil war and has been under both the LTTE and the Sri Lanka Army. LTTE has extensively damaged the Fort to prevent it being retaken by Sri Lankan Army. After the end of Sri Lankan Civil war Jaffna Fort has been renovated and now open to the public.
